Blacksheep is not your regular "retail exchange". It is Australia’s dedicated on/off-ramp for businesses, investors, and entities that want a secure and compliant way to move between AUD and crypto. To keep the platform safe and fully aligned with Australian regulations, every account requires identity verification and an ABN.
Creating your account is quick and straightforward. In this guide, you’ll learn:
- How to register with email or Google SSO
- What documents are required for KYC
- Why an ABN is needed to trade on Blacksheep
- How to access your dashboard and set up your trading account
Why You Need an Account on Blacksheep
Blacksheep is an on/off-ramp for Australian businesses and individuals with an ABN, designed to make moving between AUD and crypto fast and compliant. To use it, you’ll first need a registered account and KYC approval.
Step 1: Register Your Account
- Visit my.blacksheep.money/signup
- Sign up using:
- Your email address (verify with the magic link), or
- Google Single Sign-On (SSO) for quick access
Step 2: Verify Your Identity (KYC)
Australian law requires all crypto exchanges to collect KYC information. On Blacksheep, you’ll need to provide:
- A government-issued ID (driver’s license, passport, or proof of age card)
- Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, or council rates notice)
- Note: In some cases, Blacksheep can verify your address electronically without needing a document.
Step 3: Provide Your ABN
Blacksheep requires an Australian Business Number (ABN) for trading.
- Sole traders can use their personal ABN.
- Companies, trusts, and SMSFs can provide entity ABNs.
- If you don’t already have one, you can apply for free at the Australian Business Register.
Step 4: Access Your Dashboard
Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email. From your dashboard, you can:
- Add a trading account (entity, company, trust, SMSF)
- Deposit AUD
- Buy or sell crypto (currently USDC)
Common Issues & Fixes
- Mismatched names: Make sure your Blacksheep account and ID match exactly.
- Expired ID: Only current, valid identification is accepted.
- Slow approval: Most verifications are instant, but manual reviews can take longer.
You’re now ready to move on to funding your account.
